Brief Biographies for BCIM Directors:
Dr Mark Atkinson MBBS, BSc (HONS), FRIPH, HPC

Dr Mark Atkinson is an Integrated Medical Consultant and one of the UK’s leading experts in integrated medical approaches to mental health and emotional wellbeing.
After graduating in medicine from St Mary’s Hospital Medical School in London, and having spent a number of years working as a hospital doctor, Dr Mark took the decision to deepen his understanding of complementary and alternative approaches to healing. Traditional medical education, while enjoyable and valuable, didn't provide him with the knowledge and tools to address the underlying emotional, psychological, spiritual, environmental and social challenges that were so obviously influencing the health and wellbeing of so many of his patients. This realisation sparked a transformation in the way he worked with his patients. He now champions a personalised, person empowering whole-person approach to well-being, one that is committed to helping individuals experience their fullest potential for health, healing and personal growth from a place of self-acceptance and self-awareness.
Dr Mark has a busy private practice in Farnham, Surrey from which he provides personalised, integrated medical programmes to his patients. In addition to his clinical work, Dr Mark is the Founder and Co-Director of The British College of Integrated Medicine, Chairman of The British Society of Integrated Medicine, Founder of The Academy of Human Potential, a Fellow of the Royal Society of Medicine and Royal Institute of Public Health, and a member of the British Medical Association and the British Holistic Medical Association. He is also an award winning writer, author of The Mind-Body Bible, a lecturer and an experienced workshop facilitator.
