All aspects of the educational, clinical, preventive healthcare and political work of IHT must be based upon the most up to date and high quality research evidence. IHT employs a graduate researcher to study and evaluate the relevance of all new evidence related to integrative healthcare and along with IHT senior staff selects the most relevant evidence to:
• include on the IHT’s evidence database that members can access on the website,
• circulate with comment to the press,
• inform its students and ultimately its clinical staff.
In terms of clinical research, the doctors and nurses who train at the Faculty of Integrative Medicine will play a big role in helping to form the Trust’s research agenda - especially those who go on to MSc and PhD level as this will radically increase the intellectual capacity and evidence base to support progression of the IM model.
Where practical and possible, the Trust is also open to participation in research projects. As its membership support grows it will be well positioned to contribute to consumer-orientated studies, especially those that attempt to identify demand for and satisfaction with IM services.
